Mense Augusti Architectural woodcut border on t.p. Initials. Nine cuts appear in the 4th pt. of book 1, and 7 in book 4, "De fornacibus construendis." Spine tooled in gold, with title on black label: ALCHEMIA / GEBRI / ARABIS_[symbol]. Edges sprinkled red. Centered on front pastedown is circular bookplate of Oskar Göschen, dated 1865. There are numerous annotations throughout, in at least 3 hands, and in brown ink, black ink, and black and red pencil. Shield incorporated in border of t.p. has crescent and 6-pointed star in black ink. Immediately below date on t.p. is inscribed: Amicus orbi / summe!
