by Luke Stratton

Christmas Reclaimed Through Scripture and History is a scholarly biblical and historical study examining the timing of Jesus Christ's birth, the development of the December 25 tradition, and the theological meaning of the nativity. Drawing from Scripture, Jewish history, Second Temple Judaism, early Christian writings, historical sources, and astronomical evidence, this work argues for a Tishri 1 birth of the Messiah and evaluates the origins of Christmas customs in light of biblical theology. It also explores typology, Messianic prophecy, the Magi, the Mazzaroth, and the historical development of Santa Claus as a cultural substitute for Christ.
