Continuidad, cambios y rupturas en la religión maya

by Mercedes de la Garza & María del Carmen Valverde Valdés

  • First published:
  • 21st century
  • Language: Spanish

The intent of this volume is to present some concrete manifestations of religion in Mayan culture through time, where music and sounds, prayers, divination, the living and dead, are intertwined to give a vision of the past and the present, as well as a projection into the future of the Mayan peoples. Thus, between candles and aromatic resins, chords and stories, ceremonies and customs, recreating sacred times and spaces, like a mosaic, this book shows, as in a stroke, some examples of the complexity and richness of the Maya thought, that as a whistle or as a long prayer, are still resonating in the images, stories or in the funerary, divination and healing practices.
