Paul Lacroix (1806-1884), plus connu sous les pseudonymes de P.L. Jacob ou du bibliophile Jacob a été l'un des plus grands érudits Français du XIXe. Curieux et infatigable travailleur il toucha à tous les domaines et nous laisse une somme incroyable d'écrits. M. Paul Lacroix a tant écrit, traduit, annoté, compilé, arrangé, édité un peu partout, que la liste complète de ses productions diverses est presque impossible à dresser. L'histoire de France, l'études des moeurs et croyances étaient ses domaines favoris. Il a été de surcroit un grand collectionneur de livres rares et de belles éditions. D'où son surnom de bibliophile Jacob.
