W czasach powstanie podręcznika językiem litewskim posługiwała się ludność w północnych częściach prowincji Prusy Wschodnie oraz przylegających do niej częściach Rosji, jednak w przypadku pruskich rejonów Litwy język litewski był w zaniku, a posługiwały się nim głównie niższe warstwy społeczne.
