'Lidzbark Warmiński. From history and legend’. The history of the city begins in 1240, when the Teutonic Knights built a castle here on the site of the former Prussian castle. In Lidzbark was the seat of the Warmian bishops, the last of whom was Ignacy Krasicki. In Lidzbark, where most of his works were created, Krasicki patronized scholars and artists. He organized a theater and literary evenings, built an orangery, expanded the gardens to the bishop. In the castle he gathered a rich book collection, a huge collection of graphic designers, and had a significant gallery of paintings and geological collections. Apart from Krasicki, the famous personalities associated with Lidzbark were the Latin poet Eustachius von Knobelsdorff and the baroque painter Matthias Meyer. The author of the study A. Peter - a teacher at the Catholic boys' school in Lidzbark - describing his modern city, says m. in About the activities of the population, the industrial development of the city (three brickyards, a sawmill, a brewery), monuments (the castle, the Catholic church of St. Stanislaus, the Evangelical Church of the Prussian Wall), schools (three public schools functioned in the city at that time), institutions (hospital, orphanage). Z historii i legendy”. Zorganizował teatr i wieczory literackie, wzniósł oranżerię, rozbudował biskupie ogrody. W zamku zgromadził bogaty księgozbiór, ogromną kolekcję grafik, posiadał znaczną galerię obrazów i zbiory geologiczne. Poza Krasickim słynnymi osobistościami związanymi z Lidzbarkiem byli łaciński poeta Eustachius von Knobelsdorff i barokowy malarz Matthias Meyer. Autor opracowania A.
