For the vol. as a whole Hain (14559) and others use the collective title: Scriptores astronomici veteres The 1st part (signatures a-kk), comprising Firmicus's Astronomici, is an exact resetting of that portion of Aldus's 1499 ed. (with different woodcut diagrams and tables). The 2nd part (A-T) is as Aldus 1499, with his colophon on T8r Edited by Franciscus Niger, whose letter to Ippolito d'Este appears at *2r-*4v Imprint from colophon following Firmicus Maternus (kk8r), with date: .M.D.III. Cal. Augusti; and from 2nd colophon at end of vol. (T8r), with date: Mense octob. M.ID Apart from diagrams and tables in Firmicus, the ill. are confined to Aratus's Phaenomenon in Latin with Germanicus Caesar's interpretation. They represent the signs of the zodiac and other constellations, and derive from those in Erhardt Ratdolt's Venice editions of Hyginus' Poeticon astronomicon (1st, 1482) Signatures: *⁶, a-g¹⁰, h¹², aa-hh¹⁰, ii-kk⁸; A-D¹⁰, E¹², F⁶, G-M¹⁰, N⁶, N-S¹⁰, T⁸ (E7 & K10 blank) Renouard, A.
