Knights of Pythias Warrant Ledger

The Knights of Pythias is a fraternal organization and secret society that was founded in Washington, D.C. on February 19, 1864. It was the first fraternal organization to receive a charter under an act of the U.S. Congress. The Coulterville Lodge, No. 201, drew its members from throughout the region. The ledger records warrants (checks) issued by the Lodge beginning January 30, 1896 through April 17, 1913. It includes a record of the daily business of the organization from the purchase of material for a banner (which the museum possesses) to "sick benefits" for members who had fallen ill.
