Mystery Of No. 21, by E. D. E. N. Southworth

by Emma Dorothy Eliza Nevitte Southworth

This is a scan of the newspaper "The Weekly Telegraph" of Macon, Georgia, for April 15, 1891, Page 1. The scan was hosted by the website "Georgia Historic Newspapers", and has the Library of Congress Number, sn89053329. This is a later publication of Emma Dorothy Eliza Nevitte {E.D.E.N.} Southworth's story "The Mystery Of No. 21". An earlier version is known to have been published in October 05, and October 12 of 1890 with two illustrations and 5 chapters. For this version the illustrations have been removed, as well as the "Chapter" headings, the entire story was printed on one page, rather than in two different issues. Another noticeable difference is the ending, with the sentence "and the stable and the one-horse carriage that was the treasure of all.", while this newer publication says, "one horse carriage that was the pleasure of all." I used CZUR OCR recognition to try and extract as much of the text as possible, while keeping the oringinal image quality.
