L. Thorndike and P. Kibre, A catalogue of incipits of medieval scientific writings in Latin; 2 ed. Cambridge (Mass.), 1963 col. 1290, and D. W. Singer and A. Anderson, Catalogue of Latin and vernacular plague texts. Paris & London, 1950 no. 18. The work is variously associated with the names of Joannes de Burdigalia, Joannes de Burgundia, Joannes ad Barbam Leondiensis and Sir John Mandeville who have been wrongly confused. Cf. J.W.
