Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh Refr: Wellcome II, p168 Note: Edward Binns graduated MD at Edinburgh in 1828, and had a fashionable practice in Portman Square, London. As a physician he is only remembered as the author of the above work. The first edition, published in 1842, was the first recorded book to be printed using a typesetting machine. Due to opposition from London compositors the above second edition was typeset by hand in the traditional way This material has been provided by the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
