The rock paintings of the Upper Brandberg. Part II, Hungorob Gorge

by Harald Pager

  • First published:
  • 20th century
  • Language: English

This volume is the second publication in the series about the rock paintings of the Upper Brandberg. Besides the reproduction of the 137 rock art sites recorded by Harald Pager in the Hungorob Gorge, it provides additional information about the sites and their spatial characteristics by Tilman Lenssen-Erz. Hungorob is the largest gorge on the southern flank of the Brandberg and it is the only one of the gorges accessible from the south which cuts deep into the mountain. It provides access to the inner part of the Berg by a ravine which rises moderately in the beginning and is flanked by rock art sites along the valley. Hungorob is adjacent to Amis Gorge to the west, Numas Gorge to the northwest and north, Tsisab to the northeast and east, and Ga' aseb and Eros Gorge to the south.
