The Transcendental Universe is an important and underrated book. It is a series of six lectures that were given in 1893 to the Berean Society by C.G. Harrison, a deeply learned initiate as well as a committed Christian. These series of public lectures were the first to discuss openly the nature of the internal conflicts that had arisen between some of the Mystery Schools in 19th Century Europe and America. The object of these lectures was also to supply materials whereby the true Gnosis may be distinguished from less rigorous assertions of scientific rationalism. The six lectures in this brief yet significant book contain discussions on occult societies, the left-hand and right-hand paths of occultism, the cosmological hierarchies, Theosophy and occult science, the Eighth Sphere, the notion of evil, and other aspects that have belonged to the often-undisclosed path of esoteric Christianity. To understand The Transcendental Universe requires that the reader re-examines their definition of history and its relationship to occult science, and to see beyond the linear events into a comprehension of spirit and the influence of unseen forces. Further, to begin to perceive that there are larger movements that weave through the life cycle of nations and individuals. The information within these six lectures is illuminating and highly rewarding. The Transcendental Universe deserves to be readily available today for the attentive and discerning reader. For this reason, Azafran Books have taken great care and attention to bring this current edition into publication. The importance of the content within is left for the reader to decide.
