Place and printer from BN. The BN copy comprises title leaf, frontispiece and 38 plates First leaf of Getty copy depicts Hercules with the objects of his Labors, reclining on an oval reserve that gives title, author and date. This leaf is presumably the frontispiece mentioned in BN. It is followed by plates numbered 2-38 Most of the etched plates depict classical statues, reliefs, coins or gems. Legends generally give institution or collection where work is located. Nos. 34-37 are after modern paintings in the gallery of the king of France. Some plates signed by Taucher BN Sloan candidate Binding: yellow paper. Spine tooled in gilt, with author & title in gilt on leather label. Page edges sprinkled red Getty copy interleaved. Remains of a printed leaf on verso of 1st leaf. Offsetting on plate 18. Centered on front pastedown is bookplate of Bibliothek Oberherrlingen, with date 1839 and initials E.M. Ownership inscription at foot of t.p. of Johannes Fridericus Ochs, M.D., dated 1724 38 leaves of plates : 40 cm (fol.)
