Bound as 1 vol. in old marbled paper-covered boards; gilt green leather label on spine; sprinkled edges; armorial bookplate of Paul Scherrer-Bylund on front pastedown Author's name comes before title on title-page Both parts were read by Lavater before the Naturforschende Gesellschaft in Zurich. The editor, J.G. Zimmermann, originally published pt. 1 without the author's permission in the Hannoverisches Magazin (Feb. 3, 7 and 10, 1772). In a preface to this edition of pt. 1, Zimmermann states that he omits his own notes, to which Lavater had objected
