Binding: old sheepskin. Spine label partly preserved with title in gilt: OVIDII / METAMOR. Round label at foot of spine with shelfmark: 2941. The edges red Two inscriptions on front pastedown, the 1st in black ink: HM Duncan / Vol 1075; the 2nd in purple ink: From the Library of / Baron Seymour Kirkup, / resident at Florence. The library of Seymour Kirkup (1788-1880) was sold by Sotheby, Wilkinson & Hodge in 1871 Printer's device with pelican on t.p. Woodcut ill. probably after Bernard Salomon; cf. Mortimer, discussing earlier Lyon eds Mortimer, R. French 16th cent.
