Text illegible in places due to discolouration and wear Astrological & zoological Sinhalese ola, original ebony covers, modern cord and medallion Poleman catalogue description: "Astro-zoological text. Sinhalese script. 45 ff. Palm leaves with wood covers, tying cord, and brass button. 6.1 x 1.9. 8 lines. Figures of animals, charts, and diagrams. M (Museum) 250a (Casey Wood number)." Collected by Casey Wood: no. 250a Label found in Archivex box reads: "Sinhalese ola (MS) written on the prepared leaves of the Talipot Palm about A.D. 1680. The subject Astrology and Medicine. The wooden covers are of ola Mila (Vitex altissima). The cord and medallion are modern, and made in imitation of the medieval type. The owner has scratched his name, Gumeki on the cover. Gift of Dr. Casey Wood." Dr. Perera's comments: "Similar to 7141 and 7144. No name given for the text. Contains drawings of a crocodile and tiger, but again, for use as shapes, to illustrate the lunar mansions." Label attached at the end, 'The Museum, Redpath Library, McGill University'
